Dharmaloka wins Munchee Trophy

Dharmaloka College, Kelaniya won the under 19 cricket division II Munchee trophy, beating Ibbagamuwa Central College by five wickets in the final match played at the Mahara prison ground recently.

Ibbagamuwa Central College scored 161 in their first innings. Chanuka Chandrasiri scored 35 runs while R.Wijekoon knocked 34 runs. Sapumal Bandara was the most impressive among the bowlers with three for 68. In reply, Dharmaloka College scored 204 for nine and declared. Nimesh Aravinda hammered 52 runs, well supported by Gayantha Anjana (47). Ishara Ratnayake captured five wickets for 57 runs.

Ibbagamuwa Central, in their follow-up, were skittle out for 165. U.Balasuriya(36) and Y.Basnayake (32) helped Ibbagamuwa to remain in a stable position. G.Anjana (three for 32) and S. Gayashan (three for20) were the destroyers of the Ibbagamuwa batting line up.

Dharmaloka won by scoring 123 for 5 in their second innings. Tharindu Madhushanka contributed with a fine knock of 53. Seshan Dharmapriya was the only successful bowler with two for 34.
