Under-15 badminton doubles team C’ship begins tomorrow

The Janaka Bogollagama Memmorial Trophy all island inter schools under-15 doubles Badminton Team Championship 2014 will be held at the Kurunegala Municipal Council Indoor Stadium from June 19 to 22.

Sri Lanka Schools Badminton Association (SLSBA) conducting the event in collaboration with the North Western Province Badminton Association.

SLBA secretary, Kanthi Batuwatta said that a record number of entries have been received for this year’s championship, specially from players of Northern and Eastern provinces. She further stated that a keen competition could be expected as most top players are in peak form prcticing for the Junior Nationals due soon.

A total number of 78 teams including 31 girls teams and 47 boys teams have entered this year making it a 756 young shuttlers in action in six divisions namely; Super A’ to A, B, C, 0, and E.

North Western Province Badminton Association in participation with Bankers and Business Community in Kurunegala will sponsor the event.

The Award Ceremony will be held on June 22 at 3.30 pm. with North Western Provice Chief Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara being the chief gust.

Sunethra Bogollagama, Chairperson, Janaka Bogollagama and Company (pvt) Ltd will grace the Opening Ceremony which will be held at 8.30 am, on 19 June.
