Asian Games 2014-Anil Prasanna  win s the first Gold medal for Sri Lanka

Anil Prasanna Jayalath was able to win the first Gold medal for Sri Lanka in the 200m (T42) of the 13th Asian Para Games held at Asiad Main stadium, Incheon, Korea yesterday.

Prasanna clocked 25.87 seconds in the event to win the gold medal, while his teammate Upul Indika finished third for the bronze medal with a time of 27.24 seconds. Prasanna has been the star of the Sri Lanka Para Asian team as he earlier won two silver medals for long jump and 100m before clinching the gold for 200m yesterday.

 

 

Apart from these two, Dinesh Silva and Indumathi Karunathilake were able to win silver medals for Sri Lanka yesterday. Karunathilake won the silver medal in the long jump (T46) women's event, while Dinesh de Silva won the silver medal for Table Tennis.

 

Meanwhile, Dumeera Maduranga who participated in the 200m (T44) event just missed the medal finishing fourth.

Paralympics bronze medalist and team Captain Pradeep Sanjaya and Saman Kumara will be in action today at the (T46) 800m finals, which is another medal hope for Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is in 18th place at the games with one gold, three Silver and three bronze medals, while China leads the table with 120 gold medals followed by host Korea with 51 gold medals.
