Asian Para games 2014- Sri Lanka clinch 16th place with 14 medals

Incheon, October 25, 2014.Sri Lankan athletes brought pride to the nation once again by clinching three medals at the Asian Para Games 2014.

Sri Lanka was able to bag 14 medals at the Asian Para Games which concluded on Friday.

The Asian Para Games were held over six days in Incheon, South Korea.

Captain of the Sri Lanka Para-Athlete Team Pradeep Sanjaya was able to clinch Bronze in the T 47 400 meter event. He was also able to bag silver in the T47 800 meter event as well.

Sanka Kumara, was able to clinch silver in the F 44 discus throw while Lionel Premasiri won bronze in the T 44 400 meter men’s event.

Sri Lanka was able to bag 14 medals in total including one gold medal, six silver medals and seven bronze medals at the close of the Asian Para Games.

Sri Lanka ranked 16th in the overall medal table. China came in first place bagging 174 Gold medals while Korea came in second clinching 72 gold medals.

Japan came in third and were able to clinch 38 gold medals.
