13th Asian Para Games Para athlete goes missing

Team officials had made an official complaint to the Korean Police regarding the matter, and the police lost no time in looking for the missing athlete, which wasn't something new for the Incheon Police, who had gained experience in facing this type of situations during the last two months.

Earlier in the month a member of Sri Lanka's hockey team and a beach volleyball player too went missing, and have not been found yet. A few Nepali players too went missing during the recently concluded Asian Games, giving the Incheon Police a hectic time during the two mega events.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's hopes for another gold medal faded away when Paralympics medalist Pradeep Sanjaya finished third in the men's 400m (T47) finals yesterday.

Sanjaya clocked 50.58 seconds in the race, which was his seasonal best.

Lionel Dharmasiri and Sanka Kumara too won bronze medals for 400m (T44) and discus throw (F44) events. Kumara threw 36.43m while Dharmasiri clocked 59.51 seconds.

Sri Lanka finished the game with 14 medals and finished in 19th position in the medals tally. This has been the highest number of medals won by Sri Lanka in Para events.

Athletes going missing during foreign tours took another new twist when a key member of the Sri Lanka Para athletics team went missing from the athlete's village at the 13th Asian Para Games, which concluded at Incheon, Korea

QUESTION?

Should Dilshan have continued until Cricket World Cup 2019?

Yes No
THE DAY'S QUOTE

“That was pathetic. No excuse at all. The whole team is responsible. Whoever the captain is, we have to back him and try and support him. The captain has to do so many other stuff. All the 11 guys must back him and support him.” “We have addressed the issue of finishing off the overs on time in the past as well, but it cropped up again. It’s so unfortunate to see Upul going out as he is a crucial player in our set up. He batted well against South Africa and it’s so unfortunate. This can’t happen again,” - Angelo Mathews

FEEDBACK/COMMENTS

Cricket is a game of fine margins and Mathews is set to be a modern great. Hang in their Angie, this team can achieve something on this tour. Thirimane and the youngsters form was a real positive. Prasad was missed. Chameera should be persisted with. If Bairstow was our early outcome could have been very different.
