Sri Lanka beaten to Malaysia in the Asian Netball quarters

CT Sports: Sri Lanka succumbed to a 32-38 defeat at the hands of Malaysia, who advanced into the semi-finals from Group 'B' at the 10th Asian Netball Championships (ANC) continued in Thailand yesterday.


Both teams were deadlocked at 9-9 at the end of the first-quarter, before Sri Lanka fell behind 17-18 at half-time.
Sri Lanka struggled during the third-quarter following a disappointing performance from their Wing Attack while Dulangi Dananjani and Hasitha Mendis produced their best performance during the third and fourth-quarters.


Meanwhile, Sri Lanka will face Brunei in another group match today (4) and the match will start at 1:00 p.m Thailand time. Head Coach Deepthi Alwis said: "We still have a chance of reaching the final of the championship. Today the team struggled in the wing attack position during the third quarter."


Defending champions Singapore are leading Group 'A' while Malaysia head Group 'B'.
In Group 'A' action on Monday, Thailand beat Chinese Taipei 40-21 while Hong Kong demolished Maldives 71-8.
