Sri Lanka’s men’s Rugby Sevens team will be in line for a medal when they compete at the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Sevens for men and women, which has been included in the list of disciplines for the 18th Asian Games, to be held in Jakarta-Palembang from August 18 to September 2 this year.
Rugby Sevens will be featured at the 18th Asian Games 2018 in Indonesia for the 5th time in Asian Games history, following the recent inclusion of the format in the Rio Olympics 2016 for the first time since 1924.
In the near future, Asian rugby will witness several historical moments with three of the most popular rugby events being played out on the continent: the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan, and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Japan. The Asian Games sports program has now been reduced to 39 sports, 53 disciplines and 426 events to reduce event costs. Sports: 39 Disciplines: 53 Events: 426
