Sri Lanka’s beach volleyball team participating in the Youth Olympic qualifying round in Thailand came up with a brilliant performance to outplay the strong Japanese duo by two sets to one yesterday. The victory helped the Sri Lanka lads to move to the second round.
Sri Lanka lost the first set in a close battle 22-20, but fought back strongly to win the second set 21-16.
The second set victory boosted the morale of Sri Lankans Mahela Indeewara and Kavindu Malinda as they fought back well to overcome the Japan comfortably to win the final set 15-6 and the game 2-1. (BP)
