The Sports Minister Faizer Mushthapa and his Secretary Kamal Padmasiri who is the present Sri Lanka Cricket Competent Authority had successful discussions with ICC officials on Wednesday at the ICC head office in Dubai. Sri Lanka Cricket CEO Ashley de Silva was accompanied at this important meeting.
According to the media Secretary of the Sports Minsistry Dulara Gunathilleka, this was the first time newly appointed sports Minister had a chance to meet ICC top officials.
ICC Chairman Shashank Manohar and Sri Lanka sports Minister had a long chat about the present SLC developments and Minister has promised to continue all arrangements could continue as usual.
Amidst robust discussions about the overall development of Sri Lanka Cricket, both internationally and locally, the Sport Minister also took the opportunity to bring the ICC chief up-to speed on the current administrative status of Sri Lanka cricket.
Sport Minister Mushthafa also pointed out that due to a court order that the SLC Annual General Meeting was not held, and in order to ensure seamless operation that he took the initiative to appointed the current secretary of Ministry of Provincial Councils, Local Governments and Sports .Kamal Pathmasiri as the competent authority.
During this meeting Sport Minister has emphasized that his only goal is to ensure that none of the work processes are broken down, and that the sport continues to thrive, so that the cricket loving public, and all stake holders of SLC continue to enjoy and appreciate the game. We are not going to hold any cricket tournaments both local and International during this period. Sri Lanka men.s team already engaged with West Indies tour while Sri Lanka women team members presently involve with Asia Cup in Malaysia. Next June 23rd Sri Lanka ‘A’ team will tour Bangladesh team followed by South Africans and Englishman are due to arrive home for the full match series test, one day and t-20 formet.
Meanwhile ICC chief Manohar congratulated the Sport Minister in his new role and said he was looking forward for progressive discussions and solutions directed towards Sri Lanka Cricket, in the future.
The Competent authority of SLC Kamal Pathmasiri, CEO of ICC Dave Richardson and CEO of SLC Ashley de Silva were present at the meeting. Sri Lankan delegates will arrive tomorrow after the successful discussion.
