Dimuth Karunaratne leads SL A team to Bangladesh

Sri Lanka test opener Dimuth Karunaratn will lead the Sri Lanka ‘A’ Team Tour to Bangladesh. Sri Lanka ‘A’ team will travel to Bangladesh during this month to take part in three four day games and three one day games. The team will depart to Bangladesh on the 23rd June, 2018 for the month long tour. Karunaratna the stylish left hander was missed the on going West Indies tour due to finger injury once again get good opportunity to take match practice before the important South African home cricket series. South African already named their test squad for the Sri Lankan tour . However Sri Lanka selectors have good chance to pick the best team for the South Africa test series after consider this Banglsadesh ‘A tour as well as the on going West Indies test series.

According to the Selection committee, they were mainly focus recently concluded Super Provincial one day and four day tournament to select the Sri Lanka ‘A’ team .Apart from the Karunaratna , Lahiru Thirimanna, Ashan Priyanjan, Dasun Shanaka, Sadeera Samarawickrama and left arm chinaman bowler added for the Sri Lanka team. Infact Dsun Shanaka will named as deputy skipper of the team Sri Lanka under 19 skipper Charith Asalanka also in this team while dashing batsman Shammu Ashan also get chance to enter the team . Prabath Jaysuriya the leg spinner who performed well durin g the recently concluded Provincial matches also added the team with paceman Shehan Madushanka who played for last Bangladesh tour as well as Nidahas Trophy tournament once again recall for this tour. However the paceman Chamika Karunaratna who was cleared by ICC at the Chennai after named suspected action during the Provincial four day games is unlucky to get the chance in this tour.

The Bangladesh tour will commence from June 26th with the first four day game at Cox Bazar followed with two other four day games at Cox Bazar and Sylhet. Three more one day unofficial matches on Juy 17, 19, 22 at Sylhet. Bangladesh cricket officials decided to give Cox Bazar and Sylhet two venues for this Sri Lanka A and Bangladesh ‘A’ tour.
