The first of three four-day matches between Bangladesh A team and Sri Lanka A side ended in a draw in Chittagong’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Cricket Stadium Friday. The home side were dismissed for 414 runs in 135 overs replying to the visiting side’s first innings total of 449 for the loss of eight wickets declared in 131.1 overs.
In their second innings, Sri Lanka A posted 262 losing two wickets in 57 overs at stumps on day four.
Bangladesh A started day four on their overnight score of 360/4 in 112 overs. Sri Lanka A bowlers picked up wickets at regular intervals Friday morning to restrict Bangladesh to 414, thus taking a 35-run first innings lead.
Sabbir Rahman was trapped in front by Lakshan Sandakan for a brilliant 287-ball 165, featuring 16 fours and a couple of sixes. Earlier on day three Thursday, captain Mosaddek Hossain made a 243-ball 135 with the help of nine boundaries and three over boundaries. Sandakan was the best bowler for Sri Lanka A with five wickets.
The Lankans batted confidently in their second innings and registered 262/2 before the game ended in a draw. Captain Dimuth Karunaratne scored 161 off 165 balls, including 23 fours and a sixer while Lahiru Thirimanne was unbeaten on a 121-ball 67. Nazmul Islam and Mosaddek bagged one wicket apiece.
