Shehan Jayasuriya struck a superb 142 and claimed 3 wickets for 47 and 2 for 23 combining with off spinner Malinda Pushpakumara’s fantastic 6 for 46 to send Bangladesh A tumbling to an innings and 39 run annihilation in the third test at Sylhet.
With this win Sri Lanka A clinched the 3-match unofficial test series versus Bangladesh A in style after the first two tests were drawn with rain putting a spoke in the first test.
Sri Lanka A, skippered by Lahiru Thirimanne, batting first rattled up 312 and proceeded to dismiss Bangladesh A for 167 and for 107 on the follow on when Pushpakumara wrought havoc with the ball with his 6-wicket haul.
The match proved to be a crowning moment for opening batsman Shehan Jayasuriya who hammered 142 inclusive of 15 boundaries and 4 sixes and his 5 wickets. The superb all-round performance earned Jayasuriya the Man of the Match award. He found solid support from Shammu Ashan who made 60 in setting up the victory.
Meanwhile, Thirimanne, who had a fantastic aggregate of 347 averaging 173.50 in four innings with two not outs, was adjudged the Man of the Series.
