Having beaten the hosts Indonesia in their second game, Sri Lanka on Monday came from behind to beat a strong Japanese side, which had beaten Indonesia in their group match. Sri Lanka finished 22 points to 17 at the final whistle after trailing 10 points to eight in the half time.
Japanese were very tough from the beginning and led the first half before acting skipper Kokila Edirisinghe made good team effort to beat Japanese team finally collecting points through with good tac- tics to win the game with 22/17.
Kokila Edirisinghe the acting skipper said their strength was good team effort throught out the game and especially the loss of the services of their skipper were recovered well by her team mates. ” We are very confident now, Unfortunetly we lost the first match against Thailand but came back strongly to beat Indonesia and Japan in the next games” said a jubilant Edirisinghe.
Sri Lanka will play India on Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile Sri Lanka mens’ Kabbadi lost their first game against India after a tough encount. They too bounced back in their second game to beat Thailand 46 points to 29. Ranidu Chamara the skipper of the Sri Lankan mens team showed good leadership qualities while his teammates were made superb display to clinch the match.ù
