Sri Lankan womens boxer Keshani Hansika made a hard fought bout in the 57 kg weight class but Kazakasthan Saniya Sultankyzy manouvered her experience to win the match after a close tussle in the boxing arene in Jeoxpo, Jakartha. Keshani won the bronze medal at the last Asian boxing championships.
Sri Lankan mens basketball 3×3 team excelled in Jakarta when they beat Vietnam 21/7 and Indonesia by 18/12 at the Asian Games on Friday. It was good come back especially in the game against host Indonesia, which was packed with home spectators but Sri Lankans comprised with ChanukaFernando, Pawan Gamage, Arnold Thewakumar and Kisal Wijewarnakulasuriya were in good form to beat them.
Meanwhilre Karunaratna brothers Niluka and Dinuka were in action at the Badminton arena but experienced Niluka lost his first game against Kosith Phetpradab with straight sets. However Dinuka was in good form to beat Macau shuttler Pang Fong Pui with 21/14, 21/15.
On Saturday, Sri Lankan mens doubles pair Sachin Dias and Buwaneka Gunatrilleka will be action against Pakistan pair in their second round game .
Sri Lanka mens hockey team made a good come back with winning 4/1 over Hong Kong . This was a result of a good team effort by the Sri Lankans and coach Anuruddha Herath Bandara. Sri Lanka lost to Korea earlier but they were well prepared for the match against Hong Kong.
The main attraction of the 2018 Asian Games in Jakartha, Indonesia, the athletics events will commence on Saturday at the main Stadium.
