Ageing fast bowler Lasith Malinga’s attempts to make a return to the Sri Lanka team hit further misery when he produced one of his worst bowling performances in his team’s last match of the SLC T20 tournament in Pallekele last Thursday.
Malinga conceded 52 runs in his four overs while playing for Kandy against Galle taking just a solitary wicket while moving his tally of wickets to just three from six games.
Malinga’s accuracy also came under the spotlight when he conceded four wides and two no-balls in the match to take his tally of wides conceded to 11 in the tournament.
He conceded 207 runs in the six games as his team was knocked out from qualifying for today’s final which will be played between Colombo and Dambulla at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
In contrast the less experienced fast bowler Kasun Rajitha playing for Galle finished with a tally of 13 wickets from six games.
While Kasun Rajatha’s strike-rate was 10-6, Malinga had a strike-rate of 48.
