Sri Lanka showed some promising performances against top favourites to the title the hosts singapore in the Asian Netball Championships in Singapore.
Speaking to www.srilankasports.com, soon after the match, Sri Lankan captain Chathurangi Jayasuriya said she is very happy to have maintained the excellent form they had from the start. “We wanted to maintain our winning form and never underestimate any team” said after winning Singapore match in their home stadium in Singapore on Tuesday.
Chaturangi the former Kelaniya Dharmaloka player who herself work at Sri Lanka Air Force said their coach Thilaka Jinadasa did her part very well during last 3/4 months. “It is time that we do our part. Anyway with this type stadium our performances going to be always in the up.” said Jayasuriya. Sri Lanka beat Chinese Thaipe and India easily with scoring over 100 points each.
Sri Lankan captain thanked the coach and all the officials for helping them to come up with good performances and said that they were very confident as a team to to reach the final.
Meanwhile Sri Lanka coach Thilaka Jinadasa said they have planned very well before the Singapore match and then final result was a 75/61 victory. “This was a tough game but our players did realy well. We were ahead in all four quarters and that was my plan.” said Jinadasa.
Sri Lanka play Malaysia, another strong team in the tournament for the first time on Wednesday.
