Sri Lanka thrashes China 31-0 but get beaten by Japan 21-0 in Asian 7s rugby

Sri Lanka recorded a smashing 31-0 win against China in their opening match of the Asian 7s Series at the Hong Kong Football Club on Friday (14). Sri Lanka led 14-0 at halftime and scored from five tries and three conversions.

Debutant Dinuk Amarasinghe, Sudam Sooriyaarachchi, Buddhima Piyaratne, Adeesha Weeratunga and Kevin Dixon scored a try each for Sri Lanka.

The three conversions were made by Srinath Sooriyabandara, Sooriyaarachchi and Dixon.

In th next mactch, Sri Lanka lost to Japan 0-21 in their second Pool ‘A’ match of the Asian 7s Series at the Hong Kong Football Club on Friday (14).

Japan scored from three converted tries to record their second successive win of the competition which put them on top of Pool ‘A’ standings.

Earlier they beat Chinese Taipei 22-0.

Sri Lanka sits at second in the Pool with a win and a loss.

Earlier in the day Sri Lanka recorded a smashing 31-0 win against China in their opening match of the Asian 7s Series.

Sri Lanka scored from five tries and three conversions.

Sri Lanka will meet Chinese Taipei in their final Pool ‘A’ game at 9.20am (SL Time) on Saturday (15).
