Gurusinghe pleased with Herath and other bowlers taking to cricket coaching

Sri Lanka Cricket, in there attempt to educate and aware the budding coaches of the use of latest technologies and coaching techniques, conducted a Level II Coaching programme conducted by the Coaches Education Unit of the High Performance Centre recently.

Head of the High Performance Centre, Asanka Gurusinghe said that he was very happy to see some of the current players in the name of Rangana Herath, Ajantha Mendis, Nuwan Kulasekera and Dammika Prasad are taking to cricket coaching, which is a good sign for the future of Sri Lanka cricket.”Participants of this course will be very important and this course is going to to be very valuable to them as they would be the ones who will be working to identify and nurture future Sri Lankan cricketers” said Asanka Gurusinha, who is the head of High Performance Center.

Sri Lanka Cricket’s Coach Education Unit  has conducted a Level two Coaching Course successfully on last Tuesday (16) for nearly 20 participants, who represented various levels of Sri Lanka Cricket.

The six day course, which was  conducted at the High Performance Center of the SLC in R. Premadasa Stadium was participated by School Coaches, Club Coaches and also former and present national cricketers such as Rangana Herath; Ajantha Mendis, Nuwan Kulasekara, and Dhammika Prasad. Sri Lanka women’s team player Prasadini Weerakkody was  also a participant at this coaching course.

 The course was conducted by prominent coaches attached to the SLC High Performance Center. Among them are Avishka Gunawardene,  Piyal Wijethunga; Heshan De Mel; Upul Chandana; Ravindra Pushpakumara; Chamila Gamage; Lanka De Silva, Sumithra Waranakulasuriya, and Tharaka Samaratunga.
