Thilini and Dhanesh obtain BWF level two coaching certificate

Thilini Jayasinghe and Dhanesh Malliyawadu have obtained the Badminton World Federation (BWF) level two coaching certificate after the successful course held in Malaysia recently. With this qualification five Badminton coaches from Sri Lanka have qualified as level two coaches and that is very good for the Badminton sport said President of the Sri Lanka Badminton Nishantha Jayasinghe .

In fact Thilini Jayasinghe the two times Olympian in this sport is the first ever level two Badminton level two lady coach while Dhanesh the former National player from Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda also having more than 20 years service as a coach is the third after Pardeep Welagedara and Srimal Aponsu while Pavithra Abeygunasekara has the highest level three coaching certificate Thilni Jayasinghe the 32 year former National champion said she is very happy to qualify as a level two coach after a very short period . I was lucky to represent Sri Lanka two times at Olympics in 2008 and 2012 and I was the first lady to reach that level in Sri Lanka.

Now I am the first level two lady coach in SrI Lanka and that awas great achievement added Jayasinghe the former Mahamaya Girls school Kandy shuttler. I started playing Badminton when I was nine years old and after the long journey now I have to do a lot for the youngsters and this is a good opportunity for me. I went on foreign tours those days as a player and also won several International medals and now I want to give that chance to youngsters said Thilini Jayasinghe.

Meanwhile Danesh Malliyawadu the present coach of St Peters College Bambalapitiya and Visakha College Colombo said having qualified in level two is very vital for a coach.

As the coach we have to get qualifications and modern techniques is very important to build up players. I was the National player from 1995 to 2001 but during that period Thushara Edirisinghe, Duminda Jayakody, Palinda Halangoda and Kamal Gamlath dominated the game. Anyway I decided to start the coaching after i quit and today I am very happy to see youngsters already in the National pool. i also coach Sri Lanka Army shuttlers. I also toured Commonweath Games as the National coach while Junior world and junior Asian tournaments as the National coach. I had a good opportunity to do Olympic Solidarity level 1,2,3 courses as well as Advance course but reaching the level two from BMF is more important.
