The highly talented and indomitable PnX (Indomitus.MSI) were winners at the Sri Lankan qualifiers for the Acer Predator League 2019. Comprising Munthasir (Toad Boss), Mirsab (Paradox), Viren (Hawkie), Dinuka (6ixx), Walid (Spades) and Shafras (InsearchofJuliet), Indomitus beat three other teams to clinch their place to represent Sri Lanka in the big playoff in Bangkok, Thailand in February.
The Acer Predator League, featuring highly popular Defense of the Ancients 2 (DOTA2) by Valve! Online held its qualifiers from 15-30 December and determined teams to vie for winning spot at the Grand Finals @ Predator League LK 2019 held on 13 January at Hilton Colombo Residences.
Of the qualifying teams x3 (Victorious Secret) were adjudged 1st Runners Up, DeS (Death Sentence) were 2nd Runners Up, and nA (Bedtime Samurais) together with winners PnX (Indomitus.MSI) fought to clinch a place to represent Sri Lanka in the Predator League 2019 Finals.
The winning Sri Lankan team won the prize pool of Rs. 300,000, while Predator League 2019 Finals commands a grand total of $ 300,000 prize pool (combined).
Asia Pacific Predator League 2019
In 2018 January, Acer successfully organised the first Asia Pacific Predator League 2018 in Jakarta, Indonesia. A total of 1197 teams registered and eight teams from eight countries competed to be crowned the best DOTA2 players. A credibly rise of eSports was seen during the Predator League 2018 through online platforms; 2,390,690 times for campaign engagement, 321,218,264 times for campaign reach while its #APACPredatorLeague hits No.1 popularity on Instagram among the final match. These figures reflected a tremendous growth of eSports in the ASEAN region over the years.
As for the Asia Pacific Predator League 2019, Acer recognised Thailand’s great potential as a host of the prestigious eSports tournament in 2019 after the Sports Authority of Thailand endorsed ‘eSports’ as a legitimate sport which can set up a sports association. Subsequently, the rising number of eSports players and other related professions has been generating remarkable economic growth in related markets. Moreover, an increase in sales of eSports gears has also outpaced sales of other IT and gaming products. Gaming industries are currently dominating eSports industry as manufacturer and game developer.
Throngs of eSports players from all over the Asia Pacific region are expected to converge in Bangkok to show off their skills at the regional Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) and DOTA2 tournament titled the Asia Pacific Predator League 2019.
The Asia Pacific Predator League 2019 will be held during 15-17 February 2019 at the Nimibutr Stadium, which is located in the National Stadium complex. The competition in this tournament will shine the light on Thai eSports players in the international eSports sphere with participations of 16 regions, including Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Japan, Singapore, Australia, India, China, Macau, Hong Kong, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. This regional eSports tournament is held to search for the most talented PUBG and DOTA2 eSports players. Participants will vie for prize money worth USD 400,000 (including local prizes across 16 regions).
