Sri Lanka will play two warm-up matches against South Africa and Austrlaia before the world cup which will commence from 30th May to 14th July in England and Wales. The first warm up game against South Africa will be played on 24th May at the Cadiff Stadium while second one against Australia on 27th May at Hampshire Bowl.
In the group stage, which is a round-robin format, where all ten teams play each other once, in a single group. This means a total of 45 matches will be played, with each team playing a total of nine matches. The top four teams from the group will progress to the knockout stage. A similar format was previously used in the 1992 Cricket World Cup, though that tournament featured nine teams instead of ten. The first world cup for Sri Lanka against New Zealand on 1st June at Cardiff while second one against Afganistan on 4th June at the same venue Cardiff.Sri Lanka will meet Pakistan on 7th June at Bristol while at the same venue Sri Lanka will play with Bangladesh on 11th June.Defending champion Australia will meet Sri Lanka on 15th June at the Oval London while host England will play with Sri Lanka on 21st June at Leeds.
South Africa will meet Sri Lanka on 28th June at the River side ground – Chester- Le- Street while at the same ground Sri Lanka will meet West Indies on 1st July .India will meet Sri Lanka on 6th July at Leeds which would be the last first round game for Sri Lanka at the first round.
This time all ten competing nations will play two official warm-up fixtures ahead of the tournament, which will take place at four venues across England and Wales. Ticketing and broadcast information will be released in April.
The fixtures will be held over five days between 24-28 May, and will be hosted at four of the official CWC19 Tournament Venues; the Bristol County Ground, Cardiff Wales Stadium, Hampshire Bowl and The Oval.
There are a number of high-profile clashes, including England v Australia, Pakistan v Afghanistan and Bangladesh v India.
As per previous ICC tournaments, warm-up fixtures will be 50 over per side, but will not carry official ODI status, as teams can field all members of their 15-man squad during the match.
