The much-awaited big event in the cricketing world will officially begin on this momentous day, May 29. The opening will be marked in an opening street party at The Mall, in front of the iconic Buckingham Palace in London.
4000 cricket fans who won tickets through a ballot to this event are expected to take part. A live- broadcast is expected to go on air between 5-6pm BST (British summer time) or 9:30pm IST (India standard time).
This spectacular occasion will be marked by music and dance events and there will be popular sports personalities to grace the occasion. The very first match of the tournament will start tomorrow, May 30, between the hosts, England and South Africa, at The Oval, at 10.30am BST.
Sri Lanka will face New Zeland in the third match of the tournament on Saturday, June 1 at Cardiff Wales Stadium.
The entire tournament comprises of 48 matches in total and to be played during 46 days in 11 venues across England and Wales.
