A responsible and on-a-mission 87 by Captain KamilMishara, along with an excellent 85 from RavinduRasantha, cruised them to a five-wicket win, at the fifth and final one-dayer, on Wednesday, making it 2-3, series loss, at Sooriyawewa.
In pursuit of 265, Sri Lanka appeared disturbed by the loss of the openers. But, soon, they recovered thanks to the century worth stand between Captain Kamil and Rasantha (132). Aside adding to the team’s target, Rasantha scored a thick and fast 85 from only 67, while, at the other end, winning-captain scored his and match’s top-score of 87.
The captain and royalist, virtually scored the winning-runs, before Mohammad Wasim picked-up his second, in the dying stages of the game. Nevertheless, AvishkaTharindu hit a run-a-ball 40, to see his team, with 19-balls remaining.
Hosts winning the toss, and asking their counterparts to bat first, found instant return, in removing Haider Ali. But, the pair that followed, put on an 81-run partnership. Before, the Captain- Basit Ali pair, could take past 100, the former was dismissed for 41. However, the latter progressed in hitting his first fifty of the series.
But, suddenly, after the half-centurion was also out, scoring read four down for 129. Haris Khan and QasimAkram, began to rebuild, featuring in a 69-run stand. During that process, both the batsman, scored half-tons, Haris reaching faster in 47-deliveries.
Seeing this grow in to a dangerous partnership, SandunMendis struck sending Khan packing. His partner, after sharing another 47-run stand, gifted Madushanka his second.
However, Junaid Khan’s 22, elevated them in to a sound target of 264. Bidding to conclude the series, on a winning note, Lankan lads, gave a much better bowling show, with DilshanMadushanka being pick of the bowlers for his three-for forty-five, inclusive of a maiden.
Pakistani Skipper Rohail, concluded the tour, as the leading run-scorer aggregating 279, with the highest emerging from the second one-dayer (87).
