Rain seems to be spoiling the show, where ever Sri Lanka is playing, as it forced a no result, at the rain-affected, 24-overs-a-side fourth one-dayer, when tourists were one down for ten, chasing 209, at the fourth one-dayer, on Thursday, at Hubli, India.
Lankans, had begun their innings, when rain interrupted for the second time in the match, prompting the game to declare, “no result’.
Earlier in the day, after a lengthy delay, visitors winning the toss, and asking their counterparts to take first lease of the wicket, were off to a steady start bringing up a 54-run stand for the opening wicket.
National cap chinaman Lakshan Sandakan, drew first blood removing Shubman Gill. But, Ruturaj Gaikwad along with the freshman Anmolpreet Singh, began to compensate and counterattack. That process saw, both featuring in a 125-runs partnership, that constructed the competitive total.
Singh made the most, and turned in to a T20 knock, hitting a 46-ball 85, with two half-a-dozen. The other half-centurion Gaikwad, brought the century stand to an end, gifting his wicket to Lahiru Kumara, for an 84.
However, Anmolpreet remained and saw the team reach a competitive target.
The fifth and final ODI will be worked-off on Saturday, with Indians aiming to collect and conclude the series 3-1, while their opponents would want a win and make it 3-2.
