Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football (SLSRFA) acknowledged lapses in security at a meeting summoned by Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) to thrash out increasing incidents of violence in school rugby yesterday.
“We will be taking extra measures by deploying police, Army and private security for the finals which will held at Royal Sports Complex,” said SLSRFA tournament secretary Gamini Saratchandra.
SLR deputy president Rizly Ilyas said the schools body had given assurances of security at the meeting which was also attended by members of Sri Lanka Society of Rugby Football Referees.
“Going forward we want to develop a committee to identify thuggery and spectator violence,” he said.
