Dasun Shanaka hits 86 but Bangladesh win warm-up game

Bangladesh won the warm-up one day game against Sri Lanka Cricket’s Board President’s X1 by 05 wickets at the P. Sara Oval Stadium on Tuesday (23). Dasun Shanaka who was not selected for the world cup hit an imposing knock of 86 not out in 63 balls with included six fours and six sixes while all-rounder Shehan Jayasuriya made 56 with five fours.

However, Moihannad Mithun 91 and Mushifique Rahim 50 made good contributions to beat Sri Lanka Board President’s X1 with a loss of only five wickets with eleven balls to spare. 

Earlier SL Board XI skipper Niroshan Dikwella won the toss and elected to bat first but Dikwella was out for a duck lbw off Rubel Hossian facing only three balls on the first over of the game. Much talked about batter Oshada Fernando who was not selected to the ODI squad against Bangladesh was out for 2 runs of Rubel Hossain. A half-century by middle-order batsman Shehan Jayasuriya and Banuka Rajapaksha who scored 32 repaired the innings to post a formidable score of 282 runs for the loss of 08 wickets in their allotted 50 overs.

Bangladesh Soumya Sarkar captured 2 wickets for 29 and Rubel Hossain captured 2 wickets for 31 runs.

In the reply innings, Bangladesh managed to reach the target in the 49th over ( 48.1) by just losing 05 wickets. Mohammad Mithun top scored with 91 runs, Mushifiqur Rahim contributed 50 runs and Tamim Iqbal made 37 runs thus helping the chase.

Bowling for Sri Lanka, paceman  Lahiru Kumara captured 2 wickets by conceding 26 runs while spinner Wanidu Hasaranga, Akila Dhananajaya and Kasun Rajitha took one wicket apiece.

Sri Lanka will play the 01st ODI of the 03 match series vs Bangladesh on the 26th July, at the R. Premadasa Cricket Stadium under lights and Lasith  Malinga has confirmed his retirement of ODIs after this game.
