The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is close to appointing Misbahul Haq as the new head coach of the national team, with a formal announcement expected within days.
The PCB, as per Roznama Express, that a decision in principle has already been taken, and it will be made official during the ongoing week.
Despite the near inevitability of Misbah’s appointment, fellow candidate Mohsin Hasan Khan is still “hopeful” that he would be given a chance “to serve the country again”.
A five-member PCB panel interviewed all coaching candidates, including South African-Australian Johan Botha, but reportedly deemed his case as “weak”.
The board, with Misbah in the frame, is unlikely to go for a big-name batting coach and is instead considering relying on local options.
