The ACC U19 Asia Cup 2019 was officially launched in Colombo today at the Jaic Hilton Hotel The eight-nation tournament will be worked out in five venues from 5th to 14th September in Colombo. The matches are scheduled to play at CCC grounds, P.Sara Oval Stadium, R.Premadasa Stadium, Marians cricket grounds Katunayake and De Soyza Stadium Moratuwa,
The tournament will be played between hosts Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Nepal, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Bangladesh.
The eight sides have been divided into two groups. Group A comprises of Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, and Kuwait while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, and the United Arab Emirates make up Group B.
India U19s are the defending champions of the tournament while Sri Lanka ended as the runners-up at the last edition. Sri Lanka last hosted the tournament in 2016.
Defending champions India will meet Kuwait at CCC grounds while Afganistan will meet Pakistan at P.Sara Oval grounds on the opening day 5th.
Sri Lanka team captain Nipun Dhananjaya said they are well prepared for this tournament and wanted to get maximum effort to win the Asia Cup. We were the runners up last time and this time come with more confidence. We also have home advantage this time and having played few practice matches all players are ready to come with more confidence.
Sri Lankan will play their first match against Nepal at the R. Premadasa Stadium on 6th while the second match against UAE at Katunayake in 8th. The game between Bangladesh – Sri Lanka at Moratuwa on 10th. The semi-finals will be played on 12th at P. Sara Oval and Moratuwa while final scheduled to be held on 14th at R. Premadasa Stadium.
