Azhar Ali Likely and Mohammad Hafeez to take over Pakistan National Cricket Teams

After the loss of three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, Pakistan is set to make changes in the team. The newly appointed head coach Misbah-ul-Haq is interested to make Azhar Ali the captain of Pakistan’s Test team and Mohammad Rizwan as his deputy.

As per reports, Misbah-ul-Haq is disappointed with Sarfaraz Ahmed‘s performance and has communicated about the same to Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) CEO Wasim Khan. He has mentioned that he is not happy with the Sarfaraz’s captaincy and don’t want him to continue as the captain of the national team.

Misbah was surrounded by questions on Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed’s performance. He supported Sarfaraz and handed him the responsibility to led the team in the recent limited-overs series against Sri Lanka. Many questioned the decision to give Sarfaraz the charge after Pakistan had a disappointing experience in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

The skipper disappointed everyone through his performance in the recent Sri Lanka series as he lost his wickets early. He was not able to score big runs when needed and lost the belief of Misbah. Now, it has led his captaincy into danger.

Mohammad Hafeez as Pakistan’s limited-overs captain

There are also talks that Mohammad Hafeez can become limited-overs captain. The vice-captain Babar Azam is not in the list as he is inexperienced to become the captain. The board is also not ready to take this risk in the Australia Tour.

Pakistan will tour Australia next month where they will play three T20Is  and two Test matches. There are chances that the team will tour with youngsters, as per sources.

Meanwhile, Misbah-ul-Haq has gone to Faisalabad to perform his duty as the chief selector. Many big international Pakistan cricketers are participating in National’s T20 cup. Selection of the players in the Australia tour will much depend on the performance in the domestic season
