Avishka Tharindu hits highest individual score in Schools Cricket

Sri Lankan under 19 world cup team discard St. Anthony’s College, Wattala all-rounder Avishka Tharindu came up with superb batting display today (18) at the St Anthony’s Wattala grounds and set up the highest individual score by a Sri Lankan player in U19 Cricket.

Avishka Tharindu who scored 281 not out on the first day went onto score 350 runs in just 285 balls, including 56 boundaries and 3 sixes against Lumbini College. (As per available records, this is the highest individual score by a school player in Under 19 Schools cricket in Sri Lanka)

He surpassed the previous highest individual score of 310; achieved by Dhammika Vaas Gunawardena  (Maris Stella College, Negombo) against St. Peter’s College, Negombo in 1996 Anthonians made 514 all out with Tharindu was leading the way with a triple century while Lumbini  College was bundled out for 160 and Kaveesha Dulanjana took 7 for 37  and game ended in a draw ..

Actually Avishaka Tharindu was not included the under 19 world cup team but he showed his power with the bat continuously. He already scored 920 runs in just 12 innings in this under 19 school season.
