SL women beat English counterparts by 10 wickets in warm-up game

Sri Lankan women’s cricket team skipper Chamari Atapattu made fine all-round performance while Shashikala Siriwardena with 4/22 enabled to beat strong England by ten wickets in their T- 20 world cup practice game played at Karen Roltan Oval grounds Adelaide on Tuesday.

It was a fine display in all three departments bowling, batting and fielding by Sri Lankan women’s team. England, elected to bat first, were struggling with Shashikala Siriwardena 4 for 22 and skipper Atapattu 3 for 21 bowled really well to restrict 122 for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Sri Lankan fielding was very high during this game by taking two good run-outs.
Sri Lankan openers Chamari Atapattu and Hashini Perera reached the target easily within 12.3 overs to seal the victory. Atapattu was leading the way with scoring quickfire 78 in just 50 balls and her match-winning knock included 8 fours and five sixers while Hashini Perera made good supporting role to her skipper scoring 29 in 25 balls with five fours.
Sri Lankan lasses lost their first practice game against South Africa but they came back strongly to beat one of the favourite sides of the T- 20 world cup   English side. Sri Lanka will play their first T-20 world cup game on 22nd against New Zealand at Perth.
