Vaas economical, accurate and deadly as ever, even at the age of 46 shows he is the best fast bowler we have ever had !!
Chandana shows he is one of the best fielders we have ever had !!
Famous rivalry and India beats Sri Lanka !
After being asked to bat first the Sri Lankan legends made 138 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs.
Just like in the first match against the Australian legends Chamara Kapugedara top scored with 23 and so did captain Dilshan.
Chasing 139 for victory the Indian strong openers; Shewag and Sachin didn’t get off to a good start.
Shewag top edged the first ball of the innings from Vaas but Atapattu who was at the slips couldn’t hold on to it, just 2 more deliveries into the first over Vaas drew first blood getting the wicket of his bunny Sachin, just like in their playing days.
Upul Chandana was one of the best fielders Sri Lanka ever had and he showed that he has not lost anything when a direct hit from him saw Shewag short of his crease. Vaas then took the price wicket of dangerous Yuvraj for 1 and the Indian legends were wobbling at 19 for 3. He gave away only 5 runs in 3 overs.
A 4th wicket partnership of 43 between Kaif and Sanjay Bangar showed the Indians coming back but Hearth was able to trap the Indian Ex batting coach LBW for 18
Kaif was the lone warrior but Sachithra Senanayake was able to send him back for 46. Jonty, who just retired from International cricket bowled an economical spell just like in the 2014 T20 World Cup
When 39 was required off 3 overs one of the best finishers of India, Irfan Pathan took the first 3 balls of the 18th over by Maharoof for 6,6,4 and the over going for 26 did put the Indians in front for the first time.
Finisher Irfan Pathans blitz of 57 off 31 saw India crossing over the line with 5!wickets remaining. Pathan and Gony hammered 39 runs off the last 10 balls.
