Match Day 6th of the Lankan Premier League took place between Kandy Tusker and Galle Gladiators. While batting first Kandy Tusker 196 runs in their 20 overs. As in result of chasing down this mammoth target Galle Gladiators remained shot by 25 runs as their ended on 171 runs.
Brendan Taylor’s half-century helped Kandy Tusker to cross past the score of 196 runs. On the other hand, from Galle Gladiators it was Gunathilaka who scored 82 runs but he did not get the help from other hand. And as a result of Galle Gladiators failed to achieve the touchline.
So, the Tuskers have managed to clinch their first win of the tournament, whereas Galle Gladiators are yet to open their account. This is their third successive loss of the season, and they somehow need to break this jinx. If not, it’s going to be really difficult for them to make it to the semis.
Having put in to bat first by the Gladiators, the Tuskers managed to post a handsome total on the back of Taylor’s fifty. And of course, how can we forget Mendis’ knock who fell short of a fifty by one run? In reply, the Gladiators innings never took off as they kept losing wickets throughout their innings. Gunathilaka’s knock kept them alive in the chase to some extent, but lack of support from the other end resulted in Galle’s downfall as they continue to search for their first win.
THE PREDICTION
This is a match between two sides that have lost both of their matches so far but the future prospects are predicted to be very different. Galle will improve and they do possess some match winners in their team but their chances of winning the tournament remain very small. In contrast, while Kandy’s bowling may not be the best, they have simply had two knife-edge games go against them and they do possess plenty of quality in their ranks. The Tuskers will expect to finally get a win at the third time of asking.
