South Africa beat Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the second Test in Johannesburg today (5th).
South Africa won both their home matches against Sri Lanka last year.
Chasing an easy target of 67 for victory, the South Africans reached their target in 13.2 overs.
Dean Elga (31) and Aiden Markram (36) were the opening batsmen to seal the victory for South Africa.
With the exception of Dimuth Karunaratne’s 103 in the second innings and Kusal Janith Perera’s 60 in the first innings, no other Sri Lankan batsman was able to cross the 40-run mark in the first innings. Minod Bhanuka and Lahiru Thirimanne, who were called up to replace Dhananjaya de Silva and Dinesh Chandimal who were injured in the first match, also failed to fulfill their responsibilities properly, causing the Sri Lankan innings to collapse. Niroshan Dickwella was also unsuccessful as Kusal Mendis’ lack of support in both the innings was another reason for the loss.
