Little ‘Kalu” tipped to join new Selection Committee

Cricket sources say that former wicketkeeper Romesh Kaluwitharana, who represented Sri Lanka in the 1996 World Cup, will be a member of the new national cricket selection committee.

It is reported that the President of the National Sports Council Mahela Jayawardena has invited Romesh Kaluwitharana from a background. Sources say that Romesh Kaluwitharana has expressed his consent for this.

Sri Lanka Cricket has submitted a list of four names for the new Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee to the National Sports Council on January 29. Romesh Kaluwitharana’s name is also mentioned among the four. In addition to him, the names of Hemantha Wickramaratne, Kapila Wijegunawardena and Waruna Warakagoda have also been included.

Accordingly, Pramodya Wickramasinghe, a former member of the National Cricket Selection Committee, has been re-appointed as a member of the new Selection Committee. Accordingly, only two of the four new nominees will be selected by the new selection committee.
