Four players removed from West Indies tour

Sri Lanka Cricket has requested the Sri Lanka National Team Management and Selection Committee to strictly enforce the fitness guidelines for contracted players.

Accordingly, it has been decided to remove the four players who failed the aptitude test for the West Indies tour to be held later this month.

Both Danushka Goonetileke, who became the highest scorer in the Ceylon Premier League cricket tournament this year, and Bhanuka Rajapaksa, the captain of the Goal Gladiators team, failed the recent 2 km fitness test. Kusal Janith Perera, the opening batsman of the Sri Lanka Test and limited overs team, as well as Dilruwan Perera, now 38, failed the test.
