Players’ attitudes must be changed -Muralitharan

Muttiah Muralitharan, a former spin bowling champion, says he admits that the game of cricket today is very different from the game he played at the time, but that he has not changed his attitude towards cricket.

Muralitharan, the world’s highest Test and ODI wicket-taker and currently a member of the Sri Lanka Cricket’s ‘Cricket Committee’, made the remarks at a function to motivate the current Sri Lankan cricketers.

“Actually, the cricket we played was very different from what we have now. Its way of thinking and way of thinking are different. However, there has been no change in the attitudes of the cricketers, ”said Muralitharan. There are people who can bat well. There are people who can spin well. There are more all-rounders than ever. In short, there are a number of options, ”Murali said.

With the exception of Lahiru Thirimanne, all the 36 players included in the national squad were present at the event. In addition to the players, Sri Lanka Cricket CEO Ashley de Silva and Cricket Chief Operating Officer Jeremy Jayaratne were also present.

Speaking further Mr. Muralitharan said, “What is needed here is for you to be among the talents. A batsman should have scored 30 or 40 centuries by the end of his career. That’s what we planned. Otherwise there is no point in just naming. When the eleven of you do that, you will be able to win at least 60% of the matches. I am not saying to win 100%. It cannot be done that way. Because others are training. And brilliant. But you have to look your best and get the chance to show off your talents when you get there. You will not take that opportunity. ”

Mr. Muralitharan, who holds the record for most Test and ODI wickets in the world, said it was important to keep a good mind during cricket.

“The mind is the key to all of this. I don’t think it matters if we bring in talented coaches if we can’t keep our minds right. It is not the coaches who play cricket. You are. You are the one who has to answer 90%. To those who are out there, the answer is that the cricket board has been changed. No matter how many committees we have, we can’t come and play here. You are the ones who need to play with a change of attitude. Otherwise, some new players will be brought to the team and made to play. Then it will be formed anew. So no matter what I say, do your duty without moving. If that happens, we will be able to return to the status quo, ”Muralitharan said.
