After three days of medals being won at the Tokyo Olympics, it’s host nation Japan who sit top of the medal table with eight golds. Team USA are just behind on seven and we now have 23 nations with at least one participant having topped a podium. This Monday brought Team GB’s first gold medals as Adam Peaty won in the swimming pool, as Tom Pidcock finished first in mountain biking and as the duo of Tom Daley and Matty Lee won from the diving platform.

13:45 CEST: Modest Doncic
Slovenia destroyed current world runners up in basketball, Argentina, but Luka Doncic was particularly modest about his achievements, focusing instead on the collective effort.

The former Real Madrid star, in what was his country’s first ever appearance in the sport at the Olympics, scored 48 points, just seven points off equalling the scoring record in a single match by Oscar Schmidt.

“It is a very special day for Slovenia,” Doncic instead stated. “I’d like to be a star of the [Olympic] Games, I feel good being one of the stars, if that’s what I am,” he joked.

13:00 CEST: Djokovic cruises into last 16
Novak Djokovic breezed past Jan-Lennard Struff on Monday with a 6-4, 6-3 win in Tokyo, racking up his 20th straight win.

The Serbian’s next opponent, in the round of 16, is Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich, with their only previous meeting ending in a 6-2, 6-1 win for Djokovic.
