According to DailyMail, FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi have finally agreed on the terms of the club captain’s new contract. The Argentine forward has put pen on paper and signed the new deal which will keep him at Camp Nou for the upcoming seasons.
Messi is said to have agreed upon a new five-year deal and remain associated with FC Barcelona until 2026. The new deal also means that the club captain will be at the club till he is nearly 40 years old.
The contract negotiations were said to be finalized on Monday and have now been closed with both parties reaching an agreement. His previous contract with FC Barcelona expired in June 2021 and saw the 34-year-old remain a free agent for almost over a month.
He is on holiday in Ibiza alongside former Barca players Luis Suarez and Cesc Fabregas while his father Jorge finalizes the deal. The Barca captain is also said to miss out on the clubs’ preseason and wait till the contract is signed..
