Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle thinks Sri Lankan all rounder Chamika Karunartne would be a good option as a replacement player for IPL 2021.
The IPL 2021 was suspended indefinitely due to a surge in COVID-19 cases in India in May. It has been scheduled to resume in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on September 19th while the final will be hosted on October 15.
With the rescheduling, some players will have to miss the second leg of IPL 2021 due to national responsibilities, others will have to do the same due to personal or travel-reasons reasons amidst a global pandemic. Teams are looking to sign players as replacements to strengthen up their sides.
Harsha Bhogle tweeted, “Lots of names floating around as potential replacement players. I am a bit perplexed not to see Chamika Karunaratne in that list.”
Later he said that since Chamika was not part of the original registration list and hence he’s unable to be part of IPL 2021.
