Till at the time of writing this report, Kusal Perera has not yet joined the team hotel.
The 31-year-old batsman cum wicket-keeper is a part of the 22-member squad selected for the limited over matches. Earlier this month he was tested positive and was isolated.
“He has been cleared by Prof. Arjuna de Silva, the chairman of the medical panel of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and therefore was included in the squads but as he has not been training, he is “most likely” to be out of the ODI matches and will be considered to play the T-20Is”, the source put.
Sri Lankan players who have been selected to play the white ball matches (3 ODIs and three T-20Is) against South Africa had their first-night training session on Tuesday, it is learnt here.
“Yes, this is their first-night training session and they are scheduled to train between 8 pm and 10 pm at the R. Premadasa Stadium ”, one of the sources, speaking exclusively over the telephone said.
The players were given an off-day on Sunday.
The last training session before the first scheduled match (September 2) will be on Wednesday between 5 to 7 pm.
