Injured South Africa captain Temba Bavuma to miss remaining ODIs and T-20Is : likely to return home

Temba Bavuma, the captain of the visiting South African team is likely to miss the ongoing Sri Lanka tour, it is learnt here.

According to the sources, he will not be playing the remaining two ODIs’ and the three T-20I to follow.

“He has a chip fracture and needs rest for about four weeks. At present, it does not look like he needs any operation”, one of the sources attached with the team management said.

“The team management is considering sending him home. This will enable him to recover before the World Cup”, the source further added.

On Thursday, while batting, the throw from midwicket hit Bavuma on his thumb and had to retire hurt after scoring 38 runs.

He was in terrible pain and his hand was strapped. He was not required to come for batting in the innings as the match was lost in the last over.

He was taken to Nawaloka Hospital for the scans. He was accompanied by an army doctor Prasad and the visiting South African Dr. Hashendra Ramjee.
