Sri Lanka Cricket is planning to launch the 2021/2022 local first division cricket tournament from October 20.
Sri Lanka Cricket has sent an e-mail to all cricket/sports clubs yesterday (22) informing them that if the curfew is lifted on October 1, the local first division cricket tournament could commence from October 20. .
Police have imposed a curfew in effect islandwide from August 20 due to the recent rise in the number of coronavirus infections.
If the current curfew is lifted on October 1, Sri Lanka Cricket has informed all relevant cricket/sports clubs to plan to commence their basic training in accordance with all health rules and regulations from October 2.
Accordingly, the upcoming Inter-Club First Division Limited Overs Cricket Tournament is scheduled to commence on October 20. Samantha Dodanwala, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket Tournament Committee, and the committee are preparing to take a decision on the manner in which the tournament will be held, as well as the manner in which the main first division three-day cricket tournament will be held in the future.
It is also mandatory for all athletes who register for these two tournaments to receive both doses of the Kovid vaccine.
Following the approval of the new tournament structure last August, it is important for cricket players as well as members of Cricket to start the local season.
