Kolkata beat Hyderabad by six wickets

Kolkata Knight Riders defeated the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their Indian Premier League encounter on Sunday. Shubman Gill’s gritty 57 was what the doctor had ordered for the Knight Riders’ innings, which had gone into a slump after powerplay. KKR remain fourth after this game, still in contention, with one game to go.

Earlier, SRH’s batting problems continued as they failed to muster strong resistance against the KKR bowlers. Kane Williamson and Priyam Garg tried to make something happened but they could not do much against an inspired KKR bowling attack. Southee, Mavi and Chakaravarthy bowled extremely well to restrict the Orange army 115/8 after 20 overs.

Brief scores:

Kolkata Knight Riders: Shubman Gill (57), Nitish Rana (25); Jason Holder 2/32

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Kane Williamson (26), Abdul Samad (25); Tim Southee 2/26, Shivam Mavi 2/29, Varun Chakravarthy 2/26
