T20 2021-Sri Lanka in 39-run victory over Papua New Guinea

Sri Lanka beat Papua New Guinea by 39 runs in the second practice Twenty20 match played at Papua New Guinea. The match was played today (14) at the Tolerance Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and elected to bat first. Sri Lanka scored 162 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando scored half centuries while Pathum faced 76 balls and scored 76 runs with 4 sixes and 2 sixes.

Pathum and Dhananjaya de Silva came on as openers in this match and Dhananjaya did not get a chance to succeed. After that Charith Asalanka played from the No. 3 position and making that position a more problematic batting position for Sri Lanka, Asalanka was run out for 8 runs.

Then Pathum teamed up with Avishka Fernando, who had a very good rhythm for the No. 4 spot, to add some life to the shattered Sri Lankan innings by building a superb 103-run stand for the third wicket.

Avishka also scored a half century in this match and his 61-ball innings included 61 runs. That innings included two fours and four sixes

Avishka and Pathum were bowled out in the last two overs of the Sri Lankan innings, after which the Sri Lankan team broke several wickets in a row. Bhanuka Rajapaksa also managed to score only 2 runs in this match.

Dasun Shanaka and Chamika Karunaratne were unbeaten on 2 * and 8 * respectively. Left-arm fast bowler Kabua Morea took four wickets for 25 runs.

Chasing a target of 163, Papua New Guinea scored just 123 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs.
