Sri Lanka in getting to a target of 97 runs were in trouble up front lost three early wickets for 27 runs during the power play overs with Kushal Perera out for 11 , whilst Chandimal and Pathum Nisanka missing out yet again in their batting.
Pathum Nisanka made just 5 Lbw found guilty of getting on the back foot to a Scholt delivery. Chandimal too did not impress caught by keeper Green for 5 off Smits short delivery.
Avishka Fernando and Rajapaksha brought some sanity by playing the bowling to its merit with an unbroken stand of 74 to reach the target in 13.3 overs.
Fernando remained unbeaten on 30 with Rajapaksha on 42. Banuka Rajapaksha got a life on 26 , when a regulation catch as mid wicket was dropped by Craig Williams off Stephan Baard.
A win is a win, no doubt, however, the top order worry still is a worry for the Sri Lankans. Sri Lanka made 100 for 3 wickets at the end.
Both games in Group A ended as comprehensive wins for Ireland against the Netherlands, and for Sri Lanka against Namibia.
