Excellent fielding skills bring Sri lankan U19 team a dramatic one run victory over Bangladesh

The second U19 one day cricket match between the world champions Bangladesh and Sri Lanka Under 19 cricket team ended in a sharp one run victory for Sri Lanka in Dambulla

Accordingly, the Sri Lankan youth team was able to win the lead of the tournament 2-0. Sri Lanka’s fielding was very good in this match and as a result Sri Lanka managed to get two dismissals in the decisive run.

Sri Lanka captain Dunith Wellalage won the toss and elected to bat first.

Starting the Sri Lankan innings, Sadish Jayawardene and Jeevaka Shashin entered the field as usual but their relationship failed again. However, Shevon Daniel, who joined Sadish in batting with more confidence than in the first innings, put on a 66-run stand for the second wicket to lay the groundwork for Sri Lanka to reach a good score.

With the exception of the Sri Lankan batsmen who built the first and fifth wickets, almost all the relations were very good and Bangladesh were able to reach 228 runs in the face of challenging bowling.

In reply Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field. Marking the end of an unforgettable match.

Bangladesh opener Mahfijul Islam was the top scorer in their innings with 75 runs, but he did not get a chance to lead his team to victory. That was because he was caught in the act of concealing the wicket in front of a ball by Matisha.

Tahjibul Islam’s 17-run knock and the final decisive 10th wicket were snatched away by Bangladesh as the Sri Lankan bowlers managed to snatch the ball straight to the stumps.
