Bangladesh out played minows Papua New Guinea, by beating the associate member by 84 runs in a group ” B” qualifyer of world cup T 20 in Oman today.
The tigers have now qualified for the super 12 , however, the out come of the match between Scotland and Oman will decide as to what group Bangladesh will be slotted into in the Super 12.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Tigers made a mamoth 181 for 7 wickets in their alloted 20 overs. Skipper Mahamadulla made 50 , Shakib Al Hassan 46 , Lintton Das 29 , and a back end assault of 19 from 6 balls from Mohd Saifudeen helped the Green Machine to a match winning total.
PNG were carted for 68 runs in their last 5 overs. Damian Ravu took 2 for 40 , Assad Vala 2 for 26 , Kabul Morea 2 for 26 were the main wicket takers for PNG.
Chasing a big score of 181 was never going to be easy against a strong Bangladesh bowling attack. Papua New Guinea got blown away and were 7 Wickets for 29 at one stage. Kipling Dorega came yo the rescue with an unbeaten effort of 46 , to help the South West Pacific team to 94 all out in the 20th over.
