The Scottish will be singing ” Scotland the Brave ” tonight till dawn as they celebrate their first ever World Cup cricket tournament in the history of their nation.

Oman winning the toss and electing to bat , made a meal of it from the very first ball of the over.

They lost their star batsman Jatindra Sing run out in the very first ball he faced. The rot in their batting from then on was exposed by the Scotsman, who were very clinical in their approach.

Aquib Ilyas looked impressive for his 37 , but lacked experience in converting his scote to a big one , when he was caught at Short extra cover by George Munsey off Michael Leaks off spin.

Muhammad Nadeem made 25 , whilst skipper Zeeshan looked in good nick for his 34. The rest of the Omani batters were far below par against a quality Scottish bowling attack. The Scotts were too good for the Middle Easterners.

Josh Davy took 3 for 25 , with Mark Watt , Safyaan Shariff and Michael Leask scalping 2 wickets each. Oman were bowled out for a below par score of 122.

Scotland made the target at hand in 17 overs, which means with 18 balls to spare . Skipper Kyle Coetzer was out standing with his 41 off 29 deliveries, George Munsey made 20 , whilst Mathew Cross unbeaten on 26 and Andrew Berringhton not out on 31 , saw the pippers go to the big stage.

Well played Oman you were a great host for the World Cup qualifier, venue, wish your cricket all the best in the many years to come.

Tomorrow Sri Lanka who have already qualified for the super 12 round play the Dutch , its only a game of accademic interest. The big game tomorrow will be in Sharjah, at 3.30 pm , IST , between Namibia and Ireland, the winner will join Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Scotland for the Super 12.
