At Sharjah a short while ago , Namibia created history by qualifying for the Super 12 in the 7th edition of the World Cup T 20.
Winning the toss an electing to bat first , the Irish got off to an excellent start by scoring 55 runs for no loss in the power play overs.
Paul Sterling led the way with a fantastic display when he made 38 runs in just 27 deliveries. Kevin O brien kept him company with 25.
After the departure of Kevin O Brien and Paul Sterling, the African nation pulled it back with Jan Frylinck 3 for 21 and man of the match David Wiese 2 for 22 , restricting the match favourites Ireland to 125 for 8 wickets.
Namibia had to cope with a slow pitch , and run making was not easy. At the end of the power play were 27 runs for 1 wicket, and never looked in the hunt.
Skipper Gehard Eramus had to do the hard yards with Zane Green and struggled upto 49 for 1 at the end of over number 10.
The winners then changed their strategy in next 10 overs. Skipper Eramus , changed his approach and made an unbeaten 53 , by holding the innings together.
David Wiese the man of the match in the game against Netherlands, did what he knows best. He came out and cartered 2 massive sixes and that was the turning point for Namibias great brave win.
Well done Namibia. History created. Good bye to the Irish from World Cup T 20 World cup. They were great ambassadors, missed out this time , but watch out they are a fine outfit
